Cocktails to Drink in the Winter.
Winter is when the weather is at its coldest. During the cold weather, there is nothing more that warms you up than a cocktail. Imagine sitting in front of a warm fireplace sipping a cocktail! A great way to keep warm and in good spirits. When you make cocktails, you can have specific cocktails for specific seasons. For the winter season, here are three cocktails to try. These three cocktails are perfect for a wintry evening. Try out these cocktails and serve them at parties; you will have your guests singing your praises.
Spiced Winter Mojito
A mojito is a popular drink. Here is a winter mojito with a twist. You need to make a spiced syrup for this cocktail. The infusion of spices in the drink is just what is required in the winter. The ingredients for this mojito are:
- White rum – 1.5 ounces.
- Mint leaves – 10.
- Lime juice made from 1 lime.
- Ginger beer – quarter glass.
A key ingredient is a spiced syrup. These are the ingredients you need for this innovative syrup:
- Water – Half a cup.
- Sugar – 5 ounces.
- Cinnamon sticks – 2.
- Cloves – 3.
- Star anise – 3.
- Ground cloves – a pinch.
- Allspice – Half a teaspoon.
- Orange peel – 1.
Keep a saucepan on the stove. Add the water, sugar, orange peel, and spices, including spice and ground cloves. Bring it to a boil. Once it is done, allow it to cool. The mixture would thicken. Strain this mixture, and the spiced syrup is ready. You will need an ounce of spiced syrup for this recipe.
Now, it is time to make the spiced mojito.
- Add rum, spiced syrup, 8 mint leaves and lime juice and muddle.
- Pour this mixture into a highball glass that has crushed ice (half full).
- Top off with ginger beer.
- Garnish with the remaining two mint leaves and serve.
Hot Gin Toddy
Sipping a hot gin toddy when the weather is chilling cold will make you feel warm inside. The ingredients you need for this cocktail are:
- Gin – 1 ounce.
- Hot water – quarter cup.
- Honey – 1 tablespoon.
- Orange juice – 2 tablespoons.
- Cinnamon stick – 1.
- Lemon twist.
This is the recipe for a hot gin toddy:
- Take a mug and add gin, orange juice, and honey into it.
- Add hot water to it until the mug fills up.
- Mix the drink until the hot water dissolves the honey.
- Garnish with cinnamon stick and lemon twist. Serve hot.
Winter Negroni
Here is another winter cocktail that has been spiced up to keep you warm and feeling good. But, of course, you need first to make a spiced gin. The ingredients for this are:
- Gin – 1 bottle.
- Cloves – 6.
- Cinnamon sticks – 2.
- Star anise – 3.
- Fennel seeds – 1 teaspoon.
- Sugar – Three-quarter cup.
- Water – Three-quarter cup.
- Orange peel – half.
Add all the ingredients, except the gin, to a pan and boil it. Put it on simmer for 10 minutes, so it thickens. Now add to a container and mix the gin. Keep the container aside for a few days or a week.
To make the winter negroni, you need:
- Spiced gin – 1.5 ounces.
- Campari – 1 ounce.
- Vermouth rosso – 1 ounce.
- Orange twist.
Add the gin, Campari, and Vermouth to a cocktail shaker and stir. Pour on ice in a rock glass. Garnish with an orange twist and serve.
