The classic Swiss roll is a walk down the nostalgic lane. This spongy treat comes with a sweet filling of strawberry jam and is a sweet dish most of us have grown up with. So, why not bring back those memories and whip up this easy dessert that will be loved by all?
Ingredients Required:
- Eggs – 2 large
- Caster sugar – 50 grams
- Caster sugar – 2 tablespoons (for dusting)
- Sieved self-raising flour – 50 grams
- Butter (to grease)
- Strawberry jam – 100 grams

Method To Make Swiss Roll
Step 1
Heat the oven (180C / 160C fan/ Gas 4). Take a 16 X 28 cm Swiss Roll tin and grease it using butter. Use baking parchment paper to line the tin.
Step 2
Take the eggs and beat them together with caster sugar for 5 minutes using an electric hand whisk. After whisking, the mixture should be thick and slightly white. Next, take the flour and pour it in two batches. Use a large metal spoon to combine them. Pour this final mixture into the greased and lined tin. Tap the mixture gently so it spreads evenly. Keep it in the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes only until it turns golden and firm. Do not overbake the mixture or it will break when you try to roll it.
Step 3
While the sponge is in the oven, take 2 tablespoons of sugar and sprinkle it over a sheet of baking parchment. Also, take the jam and warm it for 20 seconds in the microwave.
Step 4
Take out the baked sponge onto the sugared paper. Take off the lining paper and spread the jam that we warmed earlier on it. Start rolling it up. Cool it on a wire rack.
Your classic treat is ready in no time.
