London summer and blue sky, there is nothing better. Summertime is officially the picnic season in London. With so many parks to choose from and places to hang out, It often gets confusing. Whether you want a picturesque view, alfresco dining, or a secluded place to spend time with your loved ones, London has something for you.

Great Views

If you are looking for a great view, check out Primrose Hills, located on the northern side of Regent’s park. It provides a stunning view of London’s skyline and a great place to enjoy that London sunset. Another great spot is on Richmond Hill. It’s affectionately called Turner’s view. It provides quite a sight of the Thames River as it meanders through the landscape. This site and its beauty have been a source of inspiration for many artists throughout history. In fact, it’s the only English landscape that is protected by an act of parliament. It’s the best place for a sunset picnic. Few other places that you can check out for views are Hamstead Heath Pergola and Greenwich Park.

Alfresco Dining

If alfresco dining is your thing, then check out Kew Gardens. It is London’s largest UNESCO World Heritage Site and a perfect escape from the city hustle. Known for its most diverse collection of living plants in the world, you can find tons of places here for your picnic. You can choose between lawns, woodlands, formal gardens, and banks of lakes for your alfresco dining, or you can check out the local cafés. Another great place is Chelsea Physic Garden. Founded in 1673, it’s the second oldest botanical garden in England. The garden’s own tea room provides excellent salads and homemade cakes. Surrounded by high walls, rainbow tulips, and daffodils, it’s a great place to enjoy a bite and learn about medicinal plants.

Secluded Areas

Brits know how to picnic, and London has plenty of parks filled with crowds during summer. However, if you are looking for secluded areas in London, there are few places you can check out. Fulham Palace Garden is the former residence of the Bishops of London. It is a historic house worthy of a high-end picnic. It has a dreamy 18th century walled garden with an apple orchard and spectacular magnolia. You can order an ice cream or pick up an afternoon tea from the café and have a lovely time on the garden lawn. Other great suggestions include Phoenix Garden, Japanese Kyoto Garden in Holland Park, and Thames Barrier Park.
