How to Make Tender Naan Bread?
Tender, succulent, buttery naan bread with your choice of thick red gravy non-vegetarian side dish is all to set the right meal course on any given day. Naan bread is the tastiest and popular Indian flatbread variation that is popular all over for its juicy and flavorful mouth-filling quality. It can be prepared in various techniques and you can pick whichever suits you the best.
The Recipe
· Preparing the dough –Here, it is important to mention that the secret to top restaurant style fluffy and chewy naan is yeast. The dough is prepared with yeast-activated warm water that doubles in size after being set aside for an hour. But, if you are planning to skip the yeast part while making your type of naan, you can always do so. In that case, yeast gets replaced with baking powder and baking soda.
· Mix flour (Wheat/All-purpose) with a pinch of baking powder and baking soda. And then to this, add ½ teaspoon of salt and about two teaspoons of sugar. Mix all the dry ingredients properly.
· Next, add butter or oil and a cup full of curd and lukewarm milk to knead a soft and fluffy dough. You will have to keep a check on the amount of milk that you need to get the perfect dough. The dough should not be too sticky nor should it be hard.
· Now, once the dough is ready, divide it into small portions like a ball of equal size. Press each ball slightly, placing them between your palms and then roll them into circles on a rolling board. Sprinkle some nigella seeds and garlic for that additional flavor in your naan.
· Heat the tawa or griddle and place the flattened dough circles in it and let both sides get cooked properly until air pockets are formed. Make sure to turn the side to avoid overdoing one side. Then grease the tawa with butter or oil and also apply some on the naan bread to let them become moist and soft.
· Optional, once you get your type of naan bread ready, sprinkle some chopped coriander and brush some more butter.
