Preparing the warm and tasty rosemary olive oil bread is no big deal. But, with this easy bread recipe, you can effortlessly bake this bread yourself.

Ingredients Required

  • 1 cup (0.24 l) warm water (around 110 degrees Fahrenheit (ca. 43 °C))
  •  Dry Yeast (2-3 tablespoons)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2,3 or 4 tablespoons olive oil (extra virgin)
  • 1¼ cups of bread flour
  • 1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon fresh and chopped rosemary + a pinch of dried rosemary for sprinkling
  • A pinch of garlic powder, basil, oregano or ¼ tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water, whisked
  • 2 tablespoon cornmeal

Instructions for Preparation

  1. In a bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, honey and yeast. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, add salt, whole wheat flour, bread flour, olive oil, Italian seasoning (or its substituent) and the chopped rosemary. Stir them well to form a mixture. Now add the yeast mixture to it and stir them to combine. Mix until the dough takes the shape of a ball.
  3. Knead on for 5 to 10 minutes. If the ball turns sticky, add a little flour to it.
  4. Place the dough into a bowl that is lightly greased with olive oil. Cover it and let it rise by keeping it in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. After the dough has risen and becomes nearly double its size, punch it down to form a round loaf. Dust a pizza pan with cornmeal and place the loaf on top. Cover it and let it rise for another 45 min.
  6. In the meantime, place a pizza pan or pizza stone in your oven and preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (ca. 204 °C).
  7. Once the dough has finished its next rise, brush its top gently with the egg wash mixture. And also, sprinkle the dried rosemary on its top.
  8. Place this loaf in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. Bake until the top portion turns golden brown and the bread is hollow when tapped.
  9. Transfer the bread into a cooling rack and let it cool to almost room temperature.

To preserve well, always store the baked bread in an airtight container.
